Swale Friends of the Earth organised two sets of 'green hustings' ahead of the general election on 12th November 2019.
Debates took part in Faversham for the Faversham and Mid-Kent constituency and in Sittingbourne for the Sittingbourne and Sheppey constituency. We were delighted that all candidates joined us for the panel debates.
Both events were very well attended with lively discussion and probing questions from the audience about a range of local, national and global environmental issues, with a focus on climate change, housing and transport.
The majority of the candidates also signed up to Friends of the Earth's Climate Pledge, promising "I'll make the climate a deal-breaker in how I vote in Parliament."
