Climate Action in Swale

National campaign kicks off ahead of COP26. Local actions begin with The Great Big Green Week 18 - 26 September.

Swale FoE invites you to events and actions:




21st September - How to Save Our Planet - a talk by Professor Mark Maslin - the facts & solutions.

Professor Mark Maslin, author of How to Save Our Planet, the handbook for our times, it explains how together we can act at the individual and collective level to save our planet. Mark is a contributing member of the Climate Crisis Advisory Group, set up by Sir David King to deliver monthly public meetings on issues around the climate crisis, and respond directly to public questions. The talk takes place at 7pm on Tuesday 21 September at the New Theatre, Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, Faversham. Entry is free and copies of Professor Maslin’s book will be available.

21 - 26 September - RISE exhibition at 12 Market Place, Faversham

Provides a go-to place for anyone wanting to find out about climate change and what they can do. This exhibition is part of Swale Borough Council’s own Great Big Green Week, which will be also showcasing the work of some other local groups active on climate and environmental issues. The exhibition will be open from 10am - 4pm on Tues to Sat, with a late-night opening on Thursday from 2 - 8pm, and from 11am - 3pm on Sunday.


1,000 Actions on Climate - all week and beyond -

Residents are also asked to start the count towards 1,000 Actions on Climate across Swale by following simple actions in their lives that actively reduce carbon emissions. This could be a political action - like writing to your MP - or a personal or practical one - such as pledging to drive less and cycle more, or installing solar panels. The suite of actions people can choose from and pledge to take will be available online and will encompass travel, planning, food, nature, energy and more.


Friday 24th September - the Great Big Green Week Beach Clean - organised by Medway Swale Estuary Partnership

At Minster Leas, Minster-on-Sea - Duration: 2 hr - All Welcome! Please email to book your equipment and to find out the meeting location at info@msep.org.uk. All volunteers must supply their own gloves and hand sanitiser. Face masks are voluntary. All other equipment will be supplied and be sanitised.

The Great Big Green Week is being organised by The Climate Coalition, the UK’s largest group of people dedicated to action against climate change, whose members include the National Trust, WWF, Women's Institute, Oxfam, and RSPB. Other organisations supporting the campaign included BT, British Mountaineering Council, and the Manchester United Foundation.
